There’s something magical about August evenings, and Emily’s CT beach senior session captured that magic perfectly. August is hands down my favorite month for senior portraits — the lighting is absolutely dreamy, there’s plenty of time for outfit changes without rushing, and we have the bonus of using the beach when it’s at its most beautiful. Plus, with school still a few weeks away, everyone is relaxed and stress-free, making it the perfect window to meet yearbook deadlines without the last-minute panic!

Why August Is the Best Month for a CT Beach Senior Session

August sessions offer some of the best conditions for senior portraits. The golden light during the evenings is unbeatable, giving your photos a warm, flattering glow. It’s also a slower, more relaxed time of year for seniors — school hasn’t started yet, which means less stress and more flexibility for scheduling. Plus, by booking an August CT beach senior session, you’ll have plenty of time to select your favorite photos for yearbook submissions without any pressure.

That being said, my rule is that we are only on the beach during the week. Why? Connecticut beaches can be overrun on weekends in the summer. There is nothing more stressful than pulling up to find that the beach has closed due to over capacity!

Outfit Changes, Family Fun, and the Perfect Senior Session

Emily brought three outfits to her session — a dressy look, a medium dressy outfit, and a casual style — and it made such a difference in the variety of her final gallery. We used my pop-up tent for quick and easy outfit changes right on location.

One of the most memorable parts of the session was how much fun we had with Emily’s parents. They tagged along, and there was so much laughter as we joked around and even came up with funny new names for different poses and photos. It felt more like a family adventure than a traditional photo session — and those authentic, candid moments truly shine through in her images.

We started our CT beach senior session at the gardens, where the flowers and greenery created a gorgeous, colorful backdrop for Emily’s first outfit. After capturing a variety of shots, we slowly made our way to the beach just in time for the most breathtaking sunset. The sky lit up with soft pastels and golden hues, wrapping up Emily’s session in the most magical way.
