One of my favorite CT fall maternity sessions of 2022 was for this little girl’s parents. Their maternity session took place at Topsmead State Forest in Litchfield, Connecticut. The love that these parents had for their baby girl (and each other!) was so obvious and definitely showed in their final images. I was so excited to hear that this little girl joined her family in April. And of course, I was honored to be their CT newborn photographer.
CT Newborn Photographer: Before the Session
As a CT newborn photographer, I try to incorporate the current season in the newborn session as much as possible. Because this newborn session happened in April, spring was the theme of the day! I chose to incorporate a lot of flowers and blooms, making this session light and bright.
I was so impressed that the mom chose to have her hair blown out before her newborn session. It was such a nice touch and definitely gave her a confidence boost that showed in her final images. When the families arrived, the first thing that I did as a CT newborn photographer was meet the baby! This is arguably my favorite part of my job. While the mom was trying on a dress from my Client Closet, I began to swaddle their newborn baby girl.
Newborn Girl Session
To begin the session, we did family photos first. This is usually what the parents want most from their CT newborn session and as a CT newborn photographer, I am happy to oblige! There is something so special about being able to capture the first true family photo. After family photos, it is time for each parent with their newborn. I always call these the “Mother’s Day” and “Father’s Day” portraits since I see so many parents posting these on social media on those holidays.
After the family photos are finished, I take time as a CT newborn photographer to do individual newborn photos of the baby on their own. During this time, parents are able to put their comfy clothes back on and sit back and relax. I work to keep the baby calm and quiet. Whenever necessary, I pause to make sure the baby is well-fed and has a clean diaper.
This sweet baby girl was so good to me as her CT newborn photographer. We worked through 4-5 sets that I had set up in advance. I love the color choices that the mom selected. I made sure to incorporate as many spring accents as I could. As a CT baby photographer, I am really looking forward to capturing more memories for this sweet family in the coming year.
