I have been photographing Dawn and Dave since their engagement. They have been the best supporters of Sharon Leger Photography, so I was so excited to learn when they were expecting their baby girl. Dawn was due at the end of August, so we decided on July for her Simsbury maternity session.
Simsbury Maternity Session: The Wardrobe
To be totally honest, Dawn wasn’t feeling great. It was hot, she was in her third trimester and the thought of getting in front of a camera felt daunting to her. I had her come to the studio in Canton, Connecticut for a dress consult before her session. She fell in love with four different dresses from the Client Closet. Because of that, we decided to just bring them all and see how far we got!
I don’t think I have ever had a family show up to a maternity session more prepared than Dawn and Dave. They brought a camping chair so that mom could get off her feet whenever possible, bug spray, a hand-held fan and tons of water. That really helped Dawn to beat the heat and helped Dave and I feel confident she was safe in the heat.
Not only were Dawn and Dave prepared, but they brought their A game. As always, they had open minds and were willing to give anything a try. I utilized my curated maternity posing workflow and before we knew it, Dawn and Dave were more than warmed upm Models, am I right?!
I am absolutely obsessed with how these Simsbury maternity session images came out. But what I love even more is that by doing a maternity session, new parents are able to get to know their photographer before their newborn session. Before you can trust anyone with your newborn, it’s nice to get to know them and know their personality.
My business is licensed, insured and I get safety trained annually (CPR and first aid for infants). All that being said though, it helps so much to know that you already feel comfortable with this person.
